Support Services

The Campus Women's Center provides a number of peer-facilitated, drop-in support and discussion groups that are free and confidential. Topics vary by semester, but have covered topics such as body image/disordered eating, depression/anxiety, sexuality, sexual assault, women's wellness, and parenting.

The purpose of our support groups is to foster conversation between students who are sharing similar life experiences. By giving women a safe space to do this, it breaks down feeling of alienation and isolation that many women feel on campus.

The groups are peer-facilitated by other University of Wisconsin—Madison students who are competitively selected. The facilitators are here to mediate and to maintain a safe space in group. The CWC does not offer psychotherapy or other professional service, but we are happy to provide referrals to local providers.

An integral function of the Campus Women's Center is to act as a resource and referral center. We maintain a collection of books, fliers, and information packets concerning topics such as health, LGBTQI issues, multiculturalism, student services on campus, and much more. In addition, we provide referrals to many campus and community service providers ranging from Rape Crisis Center and Domestic Abuse Intervention Services to the Tenant Resource Center and the Department of Public Health.
