Our Manifesta
Women. We come from all racial, socio-economic, cultural and ethnic backgrounds. We have varying levels of hearing, visual, and physical abilities. We are not a homogenous group. Nor do we make choices regarding our sexuality, our political beliefs or other aspects of our lives as a homogenous group. However, as women we all live in a culture that inflicts violence against us, violating so many aspects of our lives: our minds are polluted with self-hatred, our bodies bought and sold, and our dreams and aspirations stolen. The Campus Women’s Center was founded in 1983 in response to this reality. The CWC continues to respond directly to the many and varied needs of women struggling to survive in a violent and oppressive society. The Women’s Center is also a source of growth providing the means for each of us to realize our fullest potential, our own personal power and sense of self worth. This individual and collective growth is achieved through sharing our experiences and participation in collective process for change. We can create new realities for each of us.
